The space for the foldable phones has suddenly lightened up. Some of the big names like Motorola, LG, Apple, and Samsung are poised to release their foldable phones in 2019. With this, we can say that foldable phones are going to be one of the key highlights in the smartphone segment. As per the reports, Samsung is going to launch its foldable phone “Samsung Galaxy Fold” in the month of April. However, the India launch might not be in April, and it might take another couple of months. Even though there is some time left for the launch, the specifications of Samsung Galaxy Fold have already become famous. And, why not? After all its another innovative product from the stable of Samsung. Before, we go any further let us tell you that since it is a premium phone, it will be available at a premium price. In fact, the sources confirm that the phone will have a price tag of $1,980. However, with the phone, Samsung is providing its new wireless earbuds, absolutely free. Not only this, the phone is going to have 5G along with LTE.
Samsung Galaxy Fold comes with a 7.3-inch display, powered by its Infinity Flex Display. With the help of the Infinity Flex display, the phone is going to tablet sized screen. This screen can be easily folded into a normal smartphone so that it fits into your pocket. It is learned that the phone is going to have an impressive display, with QXGA+ resolution (4.2:3). Once the phone is folded, it will appear in phone mode with a 4.6-inch HD+ display. The user will have the option to use the phone in both the tablet mode and the phone mode. Samsung is using eUFS for faster storage speeds. It is will have 512GB of Universal Flash Storage 3.0. UFS is already been used in many smartphones, digital cameras and other types of consumer electronics owing to its lightning storage speed. It is known for its high data transfer speed, and increased reliability in comparison to the traditional storage. Hence, you can expect no lags or freeze, whenever you do any read/write operation on the phone. And, because of increased reliability, there are lesser chances of data loss. Samsung Galaxy fold will be powered by Qualcomm 7nm octa-core processor, and 12GB RAM. It is going to have Adreno 640 as its GPU. This device will not come with a memory card slot, and instead, it will have 12 GB RAM and 512 GB internal memory. We came to know about another interesting fact about Samsung Galaxy Fold. It is going to have two batteries, instead of one. Both of these batteries will be separated by the Fold but the Android will see them as one single battery. If you are thinking that, since it has got two batteries, it is going to be powerful then you are wrong. Even with the two batteries, the total battery capacity will be 4,380 mAh. We already feel that the battery capacity is not going to be enough for this phone if the user uses the phone in both tab mode and phone mode. Even midrange smartphones have 5000 mAh battery these days, so Samsung might have just missed a trick here. But again, we don’t know how the two batteries will operate with each other. It is possible that one might be active, while the other might be installed as a backup. We have to wait for this, till the time Samsung explains this. All we can say that this phone is resource hungry, and especially with the large screen it is going to drain out the battery fast.
This device is expected to be sturdy enough, as it has a hinge system complemented with multiple interlocking gears. These gears are not visible, as they are hidden at the rear part of the device. These gears are pretty important for the phone, as it allows the phone to transform from tablet mode to phone mode and vice versa. Hence, we can say that the hinge system acts as the backbone of the Samsung Galaxy Fold. Samsung has already mentioned that on the basis of average usability the phone can be folded at least 2,00,000 times. That means even if you are folding the phone 100 times a day, you can still use it more than 5 years. That is quite impressive, and the best part is Samsung has already come out with a benchmark. Since it’s a foldable phone, many users will be apprehensive about its durability, but Samsung’s benchmark answers it all. Samsung Galaxy Fold will have triple camera system based rear camera. The rear camera can be used in both the phone as well as the tablet mode as well as the phone mode. The triple camera system at the rear is made up of 16 MP ultra-wide lens, 12 MP wide-angle lens, and telephoto lens. While there is a 10 MP selfie camera. The camera configuration looks quite impressive, and Samsung smartphones have been good for taking pictures. Hence, we just hope that it turns out like the other Samsung phone and becomes a treat of a photographer. This device to be available in four different colors. Ideally, the matt black one looks exclusive. Apart from that, it will be available in blue, golden yellow, and grey as well. It is going to have the latest Android Pie (Android 9.0) as its operating system. Now, as we mentioned, in the beginning, Samsung is going to ship its wireless earbuds with this phone, it is not going to have a 3.5 mm jack port. This is good in one way, but in another way, it’s a limitation since you cannot use your favorite headphone for watching movies or listening to music. The phone is equipped with Bluetooth, WLAN, GPS, NFC, and USB. However, there is no radio available. There is a side mounted fingerprint sensor along with accelerometer, gyro and proximity sensor. As expected, Samsung’s personal assistant Bixby will be preinstalled on this device.
